Kelvin Tang Kang Wee is an Assistant Director of Survey in the Department of Survey and Mapping Johor, Malaysia. He received his B. Eng. (Geomatics) (Hons.) from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) and then received his Master of Remote Sensing & GIS from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM).
He has accumulated extensive experiences in hydrographic and marine contruction sectors while working in Hydronav Services (S) Pte. Ltd. in Singapore from 2007 to 2011. Since March 2011, he has joined the Department of Survey and Mapping Malaysia (DSMM), served in Aerial Triangulation and Ground Control Points Unit, Mapping Division and then in the Geospatial Development Section, Defense Geospatial Division between 2011 to 2014 before he transffered to the Cadastral Map Section in Department of Survey and Mapping Johor in 2017. Presently, he is on full-time study leave pursuing his Ph.D (Hydrography) in UTM, focusing on satellite-derived bathymetric surveying over shallow and coastal water region.
Kelvin is also an active member in FIG Young Syrveyors Network, founding member of YSN Malaysia as well as YSN Asia and the Pacific. He is currently Member of Royal Institution of Surveyors Malaysia (RISM) and Professional Member of Institution of Geospatial and Remote Sensing Malaysia (IGRSM).
